As a DevSecOps Engineer, you’ll bring a strong cyber security focus to the software development lifecycle, embedding effective security scanning into CI/CD pipelines. You’ll improve scan accuracy, reduce false positives and help developers deliver secure software more efficiently.

This is an opportunity to combine hands-on engineering with technical guidance, working closely with cyber security and development teams to strengthen security practices across a significant Defence capability.

The role is based in Mawson Lakes, SA, with Canberra, Williamtown and Melbourne also considered.

  • Establish scanning baselines and refine Fortify and SonarQube rules, profiles and exclusions to prioritise meaningful findings and reduce developer fatigue.
  • Improve build and scan performance, ensuring high-severity findings reach the responsible development teams.
  • Develop procedures covering scanning configurations, exemptions and developer workflows.
  • Guide and train developers in interpreting scan results and resolving common security defects.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD infrastructure supporting automated builds, testing, integration and deployment.
  • Troubleshoot build and deployment issues, contribute to technical code reviews and mentor junior team members.
  • Contribute to the implementation of security controls for developers.
What you’ll bring

You’ll combine strong technical capability with a practical approach to improving security and supporting development teams. Your experience will include:

Application security testing using tools such as OpenText Fortify, and code quality analysis using SonarQube.Implement standard operating procedures for security scanning, exemption criteria, and the developer cyber security workflows.

Working within Agile software development environments.

Administering Linux and Windows operating systems.

Experience with IBM engineering lifecycle tools, including DOORS Next, Rhapsody and Engineering Test Management, would be advantageous.

The role requires an NV2 security clearance, although this does not need to be held before commencement. ITAR requirements also apply.

Bring your cyber security expertise to a team helping shape Australia’s future Defence capability.

If you're excited by this opportunity but don't meet every criterion, we'd still love to hear from you. Your skills and experience may be a great fit for this role, or another opportunity within our organisation.
