Job summary

Scape Australia in Sydney is seeking a Development Manager to oversee the front-end delivery of our mixed-use projects, including Retirement Living, PBSA and Build-to-Rent, ensuring planning and acquisition outcomes align with our strategic and sustainability targets.

You'll manage the development, design, procurement and construction workstreams, coordinate architects and engineers, and represent TLC with planning authorities, joint ventures and external consultants.

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years' experience in Property, Architecture, Construction.
• Experience managing large-scale residential developments in NSW.
• Proven track record delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
• Deep understanding of the property development lifecycle, from planning to operations.

Responsibilities

• Managing the front-end delivery of complex, large-scale projects, including feasibilities, forecasting and development applications.
• Providing technical and commercial oversight across development, design, procurement and construction workstreams.
• Representing TLC with planning authorities, joint venture partners and external consultants.
• Coordinating architects, engineers and consultants to keep projects aligned to budget, schedule and guidelines.
• Leading contract negotiations and tender processes, working closely with the Construction team to select top-tier partners.
• Preparing project reports, tracking budgets and costs, and keeping stakeholders and the management board informed.

THE ROLE

As Development Manager, you'll be a key player in overseeing the delivery of our mixed-use projects, including Retirement Living (RL), Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) and Build-to-Rent (BTR) - helping ensure our planning and acquisition outcomes align with our strategic and sustainability targets, and that every project we deliver is a best-in-class living environment.

You'll manage the front-end delivery of complex, large-scale projects, working across development, design, construction and ESG, while representing TLC with authorities, joint venture partners and external consultants.

Day-to-day you will be (but not limited to):

• Managing the front-end delivery of complex, large-scale projects, including feasibilities, forecasting and development applications
• Providing technical and commercial oversight across development, design, procurement and construction workstreams
• Representing TLC with planning authorities, joint venture partners and external consultants
• Coordinating architects, engineers and specialist consultants to keep projects aligned to budget, schedule and guidelines
• Leading contract negotiations and tender processes, working closely with the Construction team to select top-tier partners
• Preparing project reports, tracking budgets and costs, and keeping stakeholders and the management board informed

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• 5-8+ years' experience in Property, Architecture, Construction or a related discipline
• Demonstrated experience contributing to and managing large-scale residential development projects in NSW
• Significant experience in property development or construction in Australia
• Proven track record delivering complex projects on time and within budget
• Deep understanding of the property development lifecycle, from planning and design through to construction and operations
• Strong financial acumen, with experience in budget management and financial reporting
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse teams
