Job summary

Orica is seeking a Despatch Technician - Nitrates to join the Mayfield site, Newcastle NSW. The role focuses on safe despatch, packaging and loading of nitrate products, operating plant and equipment, and coordinating with the site team to ensure efficient, safe despatch operations.

Qualifications

• Forklift licence/certification and SSAN clearance are required or obtainable.
• Front-end loader experience or willingness to obtain competency is desirable.
• Strong commitment to safety and following procedures in an industrial environment.
• Good communication and teamwork across site teams.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment and semi-automated systems used in safe handling and despatch of nitrate products.
• Package and load nitrate products onto trucks in line with site procedures and safety requirements.
• Coordinate with technical, operational and supervisory teams to address safety, quality and operational issues.
• Monitor and support day-to-day despatch activities, helping maintain safe and efficient operations.
• Identify and report equipment or operational issues and assist with practical solutions.
• Train for and be prepared to respond to abnormal and emergency conditions.

About the role

We are looking for aDespatch Technician - Nitrates to join our team at Kooragang Island.

This is a hands-on operational role focused primarily on the safe and efficient despatch, packaging and loading of nitrate products. You will operate plant and equipment, coordinate with the wider site team and help ensure products are prepared and despatched safely and efficiently.

What you will be doing

• Operate equipment and semi-automated systems used in the safe handling and despatch of nitrate products;
• Package and load nitrate products onto trucks in line with site procedures and safety requirements;

What you will bring

• A current forklift licence/certification, or relevant practical experience aligned with the requirements of the role;
• Ability to obtain the required SSAN licence/clearance;
• Front-end loader experience or qualifications are desirable, or a willingness and ability to obtain the relevant competency;
• A strong commitment to safety and following procedures in an industrial environment;
• A practical, reliable approach with the ability to learn new equipment, processes and systems;
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with different teams across the site.
