Kmart in Melbourne is seeking a Design Assistant to join the Apparel Design Team. You will work with Senior Designer on technical sketches, set up range pages, and assist with fittings and fabric selection.

Ideal candidate has design qualification, proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, and can work in a fast-paced retail environment, with strong communication and organizational skills. Hybrid work arrangement offered.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Fashion, Textile or Graphic Design.
• Experience with technical specs is a plus.
• Retail apparel exposure is advantageous.

We have a brilliant opportunity for a motivated Design Assistant to join our professional and high performing Apparel Design Team. What you'll be doing

As the Design Assistant you will:

• Work collaboratively with the Senior Designer and broader design team.
• Working on technical sketches for tech packs
• Set up & maintain range pages.
• Assist with fitting samples & attending fit sessions
• Assist in the selection of fabrics, trims and accessories
• Undertake seasonal trend research
• Collating research into edited presentations
• Assisting with administrative duties & other design related tasks

To be successful in this team you will have:

• Fashion Design, Textile Design, Graphic Design qualification or similar
• Proficient in Adobe Suite, specifically Illustrator and Photoshop
• Ability to create accurate technical specification drawings or the ability to learn on the job quickly
• Knowledge of construction and technical skills related to the area of product development
• Confident with Microsoft suite
• Good communication skills and the ability to build relationships quickly with key stakeholders
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
• Ability to organise self and work to tight deadlines
• Experience within a retail apparel businessis highly advantageous
