Job summary

Hanes Brands Australasia in Sydney, Pyrmont, is seeking a Design Assistant to join the Bonds Design team. You’ll support the development of seasonal ranges, collaborating with Designers, R&D and Garment Technicians, and gain hands-on experience across the product design and development process.

Qualifications

  • A qualification in Fashion Design, Fashion and Textiles or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a similar design or product development role, including internships or graduate experience.
  • A creative mindset with a strong interest in fashion, apparel and commercial product design.
  • An understanding of fabrics, textiles, garment construction and apparel manufacturing.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • A collaborative approach, strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office, with experience using PLM systems highly regarded.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Design team with the development of seasonal product ranges, including preparing work requests, development packs and technical information.
  • Coordinate prototype samples and fitting sessions, working with Garment Technicians to keep developments on track.
  • Assist with trend and market research, including store visits, online research and trend forecasting.
  • Create storyboards, sketches, mock-ups and other materials to support new product concepts.
  • Help prepare presentations, sales tools, colour swatches, storyboards and product samples.
  • Maintain accurate product information in PLM, ensuring documentation, artwork and product details are completed on time.
  • Support the wider Design team on projects and help identify opportunities to improve processes.
