Job summary

Kinexus in Adelaide is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop bespoke automation equipment from concept through production, using CAD and engineering analysis.

You will collaborate with manufacturing, maintain technical documentation and BOMs, manage projects to deadlines and budgets, and contribute to new product development in a small, multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 4 years of mechanical design experience
• Proficient 3D CAD in Inventor, SolidWorks or Fusion 360
• Experience with machinery with moving parts
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic system design
• Experience with fabrications and welded assemblies
• Strong hand calculations and tolerance analysis
• Ability to manage projects and meet deadlines
• Maintain technical documentation and BOMs
• Collaborate across departments to deliver projects

Responsibilities

• Create concept designs and technical drawings using CAD
• Lead full product lifecycle from concept to production
• Collaborate with manufacturing and other departments
• Liaise with suppliers and vendors
• Contribute to final assembly and QA
• Update 3D models and drawings and BOMs
• Ensure drawings are signed off and traceable

Mechanical Design Engineer

My client designs a range of bespoke automation equipment. They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Adelaide on a permanent basis.

Salary - $120,000 - $140,000 per annum, dependent on experience

Type – Permanent

Location – Adelaide, SA

• At least 4 years of experience in a similar Mechanical Design Engineering position
• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Highly skilled with 3D CAD, ideally Inventor, SolidWorks, Fusion 360 etc.
• Experience designing machinery with moving mechanisms, actuators, drives, bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, or other mechanical assemblies
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic system design, including cylinders, valves, manifolds, and associated components.
• Experience working with fabricated steelwork, sheet metal, machined components, and welded assemblies
• Good theoretical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
• Strong practical skills with hand calculations, manufacturing, testing and prototyping
• Experienced designing products from concept to production
• Able to manage projects and work to deadlines and budgets
• Able to maintain technical documentation and BOM entry
• Able to work well individually as well as part of a team

Key Responsibilities

• Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
• Managing the full product lifecycle from concept to production
