About the role

The Deputy Director of Pharmacy is responsible for the effective operation of cancer pharmacy services across Calvary Mater Newcastle Hospital (CMN) in collaboration with the Director of Pharmacy.

The successful applicant will oversee the provision of high quality, efficient and innovative cancer pharmacy services. The position will manage a team of pharmacists, technicians and administration staff, while supervising daily operations and staffing allocations for the delivery of effective pharmaceutical care.

Responsibilities
  • Provision of cancer pharmacy services across all specialties, consistent with best practice professional standards.
  • Ensure pharmacy service (clinical, operational, workforce and financial) performance goals and targets are achieved.
  • Leadership and co‑ordination of effective cancer and operational pharmacy services within Calvary Mater Newcastle.
  • Oversee pharmacy services across Haematology, Medical Oncology and Investigational Medicines in inpatient and outpatient settings.
About you
  • Registered as a practicing pharmacist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Previous experience with managing personnel, human resources, staffing, training, WH&S, rostering and purchasing.
  • Previous experience in supporting a Haematology / Medical Oncology service in the inpatient and / or outpatient setting.
  • Post Graduate qualification in Diploma of Hospital Pharmacy, Diploma of Clinical Pharmacy or other relevant postgraduate qualifications and a minimum of 6 months experience in a relevant speciality; or
  • No less than 3 years' experience in hospital pharmacy including no less than 12 months experience in a relevant specialty accepted by the employer. Read more in position description.
