Job summary

Western Plains Correctional Centre in Lara, VIC is seeking a Part Time Dental Assistant to support chairside dental treatments and ensure sterilisation and reprocessing tasks are performed to GEO Healthcare standards.

The role requires a Certificate III in Dental Assisting (or equivalent) with at least 12 months’ experience, strong communication skills and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team within a prison environment.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Dental Assisting (or equivalent) required.
• Minimum 1 year of professional dental experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the dental suite to GEO Healthcare standards.
• Coordinate referrals, screening, triage and scheduling of oral health services.
• Prepare patients for dental treatment and set up materials/equipment.
• Perform sterilisation and infection control in line with policy.
• Carry out front-d desk tasks, including triage and communications with staff.
