Department of Health, Tasmania is seeking a part-time Dental Assistant to join the North-West team. You will provide chairside support to Dental Clinicians, manage infection control, prepare equipment and materials, and help maintain clinical records and appointments.

The successful candidate will have chairside experience, knowledge of infection control standards, and strong communication and organisational skills, with a positive, team-focused approach to patient care.

Oral Health Services Tasmania provides high quality public dental care across the state, delivering preventative, restorative and emergency oral health services to the community. With a focus on clinical excellence, accessibility and patient centred care, the service plays a vital role in improving oral health outcomes for Tasmanians through a statewide network of dental clinics.

The Role

Oral Health is seeking a Dental Assistant to join the North-West team. This role provides clinical chairside assistance to Dental Clinicians while supporting the delivery of high quality oral health services. Responsibilities include infection control and sterilisation practices, preparation of equipment and materials, maintenance of clinical records, appointment management, and supporting a safe and efficient clinical environment. The position also contributes to team development through the training and support of less experienced staff.

Details of appointment

• Permanent
• Part time – 53.2 hours per fortnight
• Day worker
• Commencing as soon as able
• Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary

$76,849 to $82,996 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

• Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025.

Eligibility

• Certificate III in Dental Assisting or equivalent qualification
• Working with Children Registration.
