Minor Hotels, including Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort and Elysia Wellness Retreat, is seeking a skilled Demi Chef to join our kitchen on a casual basis. You will assist with food preparation, cooking, and presentation to deliver a high-quality dining experience for guests.

This role emphasizes teamwork, food safety, and adherence to HACCP and OH&S standards, with opportunities for development and progression within a diverse, global hospitality group.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Demi Chef or in a similar kitchen role.
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
• Knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and presentation standards.
• Understanding of HACCP, OH&S, and kitchen hygiene requirements.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Flexibility to work across a range of shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in line with menu standards and guest expectations.
• Assist in the development and plating of high-quality meals.
• Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and compliance with food safety, hygiene, and WHS standards.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service and smooth operations.
• Support and mentor junior kitchen staff where required.
• Contribute to menu planning, recipe development, and kitchen efficiency improvements.

Oaks Cypress Lakes ResortandElysia Wellness Retreatare looking for a skilled and motivated Demi Chef to join our kitchen team on a casualbasis.

This role is essential in supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen, assisting with food preparation, cooking, and presentation, while helping deliver a high-quality dining experience for guests.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in line with menu standards and guest expectations.
• Assist in the development and plating of high-quality meals.
• Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and compliance with food safety, hygiene, and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service and smooth operations.
• Support and mentor junior kitchen staff where required.
• Contribute to menu planning, recipe development, and kitchen efficiency improvements.

Shift Details (subject to change)

• Part-time or full-time positionsmay also be available, depending on business requirements
• Rotating roster across Monday to Sunday
• Shifts may include breakfast, lunch, and dinner services
• Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays

Hourly Rates (excluding superannuation)

Monday - Friday: $39.19 per hour
Saturday: $46.95 per hour
Sunday: $54.78 per hour

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have

• Previous experience as a Demi Chef or in a similar kitchen role.
• Relevant Australian cookery qualifications, ideally Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
• Knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and presentation standards.
• Understanding of HACCP, OH&S, and kitchen hygiene requirements.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Positive, proactive attitude and genuine passion for cooking.
• Flexibility to work across a range of shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
