Minor Hotels is seeking a Demi Chef for AVANI Cypress Lakes Resort in Australia, to join the kitchen team on a full-time basis. You will assist with food preparation, cooking, and presentation to deliver high-quality dining experiences for guests.

The role supports a collaborative kitchen, ensuring hygiene, safety, and teamwork. Applicants should have a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent and be flexible with shifts, including weekends.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Demi Chef or similar kitchen role.
• Carrying out food preparation and cooking to meet menu standards.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and OH&S requirements.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen and support the team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in line with menu standards and guest expectations.
• Assist in development and plating of high-quality meals.
• Maintain cleanliness, organisation and hygiene standards in the kitchen.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service.
• Mentor junior kitchen staff when required.
• Contribute to menu planning and kitchen efficiency improvements.

AVANI Cypress Lakes ResortandAVANI WELLare looking for a skilled and motivated Demi Chef to join our kitchen team on a Full Timebasis.

This role is essential in supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen, assisting with food preparation, cooking, and presentation, while helping deliver a high-quality dining experience for guests.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in line with menu standards and guest expectations.
• Assist in the development and plating of high-quality meals.
• Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and compliance with food safety, hygiene, and Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) standards.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service and smooth operations.
• Support and mentor junior kitchen staff where required.
• Contribute to menu planning, recipe development, and kitchen efficiency improvements.

Shift Details (subject to change):

• Part-time or full-time positions may also be available, depending on business requirements
• Rotating roster across Monday to Sunday
• Shifts may include breakfast, lunch, and dinner services
• Flexibility to work weekends and public holidays

Hourly Rates (excluding superannuation):

Monday - Friday: $39.19per hour
Saturday: $46.95 per hour
Sunday: $54.78 per hour

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Previous experience as a Demi Chef or in a similar kitchen role.
• Relevant Australian cookery qualifications, ideally Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
• Knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and presentation standards.
• Understanding of HACCP, OH&S, and kitchen hygiene requirements.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Positive, proactive attitude and genuine passion for cooking.
• Flexibility to work across a range of shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
