Department of Housing & Public Works QLD – Mount Isa QLD

QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.

About the role

You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by providing overseeing and coordinating a suite of tasks associated with program development, design management, cost planning, tendering, estimating, contract administration and program management of new construction works.

Duties and skills involved:
  • Consultation with key internal and external stakeholders, to ensure a pipeline of customer projects and programs are identified and delivered through rigorous consideration and implementation of agreed delivery methods. Those methods may include integrated procurement and contract management, internal and external resource management, or a combination of methods with a focus on performance monitoring and a continuous commitment to quality and value for money
  • Preparing and effectively managing the delivery of maintenance, minor works, and construction activity in line with the Queensland Government's Capital Works Management Framework (CWMF) and Maintenance Management Framework (MMF)
  • As the subject matter expert for operational and technical service delivery activity, ensure all QBuild staff and contractors are provided necessary leadership, guidance and mentoring through the appropriate allocation of maintenance and construction projects to achieve required outcomes
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with customers and industry ensuring value is visible to customers across all services delivered
  • Continuous partnering and capability development with a commitment to high quality and timely service delivery and value for money outcomes
  • Be a champion of change and ensure effective working relations exist across the sector through continuous communication, development and encouragement of individuals and teams
  • Leading and mentoring a team of Managers and other staff within the Delivery team
  • Proactively manage the work performance and personal conduct of your staff.
Additional requirements:
  • Current Workplace Health and Safety General Safety Induction Card.
Preferred skills and experience:
  • Strong understanding and ability to demonstrate knowledge of the building construction and maintenance management industry, including principles, practices and maintenance program management.
