Job summary

RTX Corporation in Brisbane is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer to join a hybrid-Work model team delivering safety across the Australian Defence Air Traffic System (ADATS) modernization and sustainment projects.

You will lead hazard identification, risk assessment and safety analysis, ensure compliance with defence standards, and develop critical safety documentation while collaborating with cross-functional teams and Australian authorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering degree.
• System Safety qualification(s).
• Experience in hazard identification and analysis (PHA, HHA, SHA).
• Proven ability to develop and review safety cases for complex systems.
• Strong knowledge of defence safety standards and Australian safety legislation.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain safety cases for ADATS-like systems across sustainment and modernisation.
• Lead hazard identification, risk assessment and safety analysis for legacy and new design changes.
• Review safety impact of design changes, ensuring compliance with defence standards and DASR.
• Facilitate safety working groups and represent the company at safety governance forums.
• Develop and maintain hazard logs, safety cases, and safety data sheets.
• Provide safety input during design reviews, installation planning and transition activities across sites.
• Liaise with the Commonwealth and airworthiness authorities on safety matters.
