Job summary

You will coordinate activities, support students during parental deployments, and connect families with school and community programs.

Qualifications

• SC 1: Facilitate a supportive educational environment for Australian Defence Families during times of change.
• SC 2: Establish ongoing programs and resources for usage beyond the life of the DSTA Program.
• SC 3: Provide a communication link between stakeholders.
• SC 4: Demonstrated commitment to establishing and maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist ADF parents and children to become familiar with the school and its facilities and integrate into the school community.
• Co-ordinate appropriate welcoming and farewell activities for ADF students.
• Support students at school during times of parental absence from home for service requirements.
• Support ADF students to develop their self-confidence and resilience.
• Refer students when necessary to appropriate students support services.
• Develop and implement programs and resources that support ADF student needs.
• Facilitate student participation in cultural, sporting, academic and personal development programs.
• Link ADF students to school and community programs.
• Raise school community awareness of Defence related issues facing young people due to service requirements
• Contribute items of interest to the school newsletter.
• Provide opportunities for ADF families to meet other ADF families within the school community.
• Be a contact for new parents of mobile ADF students in the school.
• Maintain contact with ADF families who are enrolled in the school.
