Job summary

Kinetic IT is seeking a Networking Engineer – Defence C4isr for an on‑site role in Canberra. You will provide Level 3 network support, install, configure, and troubleshoot network hardware and software, and collaborate to resolve issues.

The role requires clearing and IT security expertise, plus strong documentation skills. You’ll work with Cisco, Palo Alto and Azure technologies, maintain networks, and contribute to continuous improvement while collaborating with a broad set of stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Active AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance.
• Hands‑on experience configuring and managing Cisco routers, switches and firewalls.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, VLANs, NAT).
• Experience with network security technologies including firewalls and VPNs.

This is a full‑time onsite role based in Canberra, working standard business hours. You'll also participate in an on‑call roster, which includes occasional weekend work.

• Providing Level 3 network support, including installing, configuring and troubleshooting network hardware and software.
• Collaborating with end‑users to resolve networking issues in a timely and efficient manner.
• Performing routine maintenance tasks, including updates, patches, and system upgrades.
• Looking for ways to improve network performance and processes.
• Developing technical documentation, including policies, procedures and support guides.
• Collaborating and communicating closely with team members, end users, clients, vendors and stakeholders to deliver reliable network services and support continuous improvement.

What You’ll Bring To The Table

• Active AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance.
• Cisco certification (CCNA, CCNP or similar) and other networking certifications; ITIL certification is highly regarded.
• Hands‑on experience configuring and managing Cisco routers, switches and firewalls.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols including TCP/IP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, VLANs and NAT.
• Experience with network security technologies, including firewalls and VPNs.
• Technical expertise across Cisco, Palo Alto and Microsoft Azure technologies.
• Experience developing technical documentation, including policies, procedures and support guides.
• A solid understanding of IT infrastructure and IT service management practices.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• The ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a willingness to share knowledge and support the team.
• Ability to work onsite, participate in an on‑call roster, and occasionally work weekends as required.
