Enlighten is seeking a Data Operations Engineer to lead the DataOps team, ensuring reliability and fast delivery of mission-critical datasets. You will translate customer requirements into engineering tasks and oversee data flows across cloud environments.

The role emphasizes automation, high-touch client communication, and proactive platform evolution. The position is hybrid, based in Maryland with flexible in-person collaboration, and requires a Secret clearance and strong background in

Qualifications

• Clearance: Must have active Secret level U.S. Government Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
• 9+ years in technical operations, systems engineering, or data management with a Bachelor's; OR 7 years with Masters; OR 13 years with HS diploma.
• Distributed systems & cloud platforms experience managing high-volume data flow and storage.
• Observability & log analysis experience with enterprise tools.
• SQL data validation experience.
• Scripting in Python or Java for automation.
• Strong communication to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to obtain Security+ within 60 days of hire.
• Hybrid work requirement: 1-2 days/week at Columbia, MD office.

Responsibilities

• Lead a technically focused DataOps team to ensure reliability, uptime, and speed-to-delivery of mission-critical data sets.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for stakeholders and translate mission requirements into engineering tasks.
• Oversee deployment and maintenance of data flows using templates and libraries from Engineering.
• Perform immediate cluster performance tuning and pipeline monitoring to minimize latency.
• Drive the evolution of the data platform toward proactive, automated operations.
• Coordinate ecosystem-wide sharing of scripts and flow strategies across teams.
• Implement automated Quality Gates and schema validations for production readiness.
• Troubleshoot complex dataflow issues across distributed messaging, orchestration, and cloud environments.
