Job summary

Xpt Software Australia Pty is seeking an experienced CA Datacom/DB Database Administrator (DBA) to support a complex enterprise mainframe environment. This role focuses on specialist guidance, troubleshooting and contingency support across a legacy Datacom/DB stack.

You will work remotely from Australia or New Zealand on a fixed-term engagement from November 2026 through July 2027, providing expert Datacom assessment, performance tuning and migration support as needed.

Qualifications

• CA Datacom/DB administration expertise required throughout Datacom architecture and internals.
• Experience with IBM z/OS mainframes is essential.
• In-depth knowledge of Datacom/DB troubleshooting, performance tuning and migrations.
• Familiarity with PL/I and its interaction with Datacom/DB is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist CA Datacom/DB database administration and support.
• Support and maintain Datacom databases operating on IBM z/OS mainframes.
• Provide expertise across Datacom architecture, internals and database structures.
• Assist with mainframe database migration activities.
• Troubleshoot complex database, application and performance issues.
• Provide performance analysis, tuning and optimisation.
• Support interactions between PL/I applications and Datacom/DB.

Our client is seeking an experienced CA Datacom/DB Database Administrator (DBA) to support a complex enterprise mainframe environment. This is a highly specialised opportunity suited to a CA Datacom/DB subject matter expert who can provide technical guidance, troubleshooting and contingency support across a business-critical legacy environment. The requirement is primarily focused on risk mitigation and specialist capability, providing additional Datacom expertise that can be called upon when required. The engagement is expected to run from November 2026 through to July 2027, with the opportunity to work remotely from Australia or New Zealand.
