Job summary

Westpac is seeking a Data Science Manager to shape the future of audit through advanced analytics, ML and AI. You will lead the DCoE Advanced Analytics team, develop production-grade models and deploy analytics across Group Audit in a hybrid Sydney-based setting.

You will guide strategy, coach teams and collaborate with risk, technology and compliance to deliver impactful business insights.

Qualifications

• Experience applying data science, ML, AI or GenAI to business problems, ideally in audit, risk, financial services or consulting.
• Strong Python and data science capability, including predictive and prescriptive analytics with structured and unstructured data
• Proven end-to-end design, build, deployment and monitoring of production-grade ML/AI solutions in enterprise environments
• Strong data analytics experience using SQL, Alteryx and data visualization tools, with exposure to Azure and Snowflake desirable
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and translate analytics into practical business recommendations

What’s the role?

Ready to help shape the future of audit through data science, machine learning and AI? Join Group Audit's DCoE Advanced Analytics team and play a key role in delivering the advanced analytics and AI strategy across Group Audit. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based in Sydney with hybrid working arrangements available. In this role, you'll combine strategic thinking with hands on audit delivery, identifying opportunities where machine learning, AI, GenAI and advanced analytics can improve assurance, uncover emerging risks and deliver meaningful business insights. You'll lead the development and deployment of innovative analytics and AI solutions, help automate audit approaches, influence the future direction of Group Audit's analytics capability, and build trusted relationships across audit, risk, technology and compliance teams. You'll also contribute to coaching and uplifting data and AI capability across Group Audit.

What do I need?

• Experience applying data science, machine learning, AI or GenAI techniques to solve business problems, ideally within audit, risk, financial services or consulting environments
• Strong Python and data science capability, including developing predictive and prescriptive analytics and working with structured and unstructured data
• Proven experience leading the end-to-end design, build, deployment and monitoring of production grade machine learning, AI or GenAI solutions in enterprise environments
• Strong data analytics experience using SQL, Alteryx and data visualisation tools, with exposure to cloud platforms such as Azure and Snowflake desirable
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders, communicate complex technical concepts clearly and translate analytics outcomes into practical business recommendations
