The Data Governance Analyst will support the Data Governance Manager by executing and monitoring data governance initiatives and ensuring precise data management across the company. This role will involve establishing and reinforcing data governance policies and standards, supporting data quality initiatives, and assisting in risk identification related to data handling and protection.

Why PwC?

What you'll do:
  • Support the implementation and ongoing operation of the firm's data governance framework, policies, standards and processes.
  • Set up and maintain the enterprise data catalog, including configuring settings, workflows, roles, and permissions.
  • Curate data assets in the catalog by adding business terms, definitions, owners, and lineage so people can find and trust the data they need.
  • Keep catalog content current by reviewing and updating metadata as systems and business needs change.
  • Work with Data Owners, Data Stewards and business stakeholders to clarify data accountabilities and embed effective governance practices.
  • Maintain data governance artefacts, including data inventories, ownership records, business definitions, standards and procedural documentation.
  • Coordinate governance assessments and monitor compliance with data management requirements, escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Support the identification, assessment and treatment of data risks, control gaps and governance issues.
  • Assist with data quality activities by documenting issues, coordinating remediation actions and monitoring progress.
  • Prepare clear reporting, insights and presentation materials for governance forums and senior stakeholders.
  • Contribute to awareness, training and communications that build data governance capability across the firm.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to simplify, standardise and strengthen governance processes.
What we're looking for:
  • Experience in data governance, data management, information management, risk, compliance or a related discipline.
  • Experience curating data: writing business definitions, tagging assets, assigning owners, and mapping data lineage.
  • Understanding of metadata management and how data flows across systems.
  • A practical understanding of data governance concepts, including data ownership, stewardship, quality, lineage, metadata and controls.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess information, identify issues and recommend practical actions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain governance requirements clearly to different audiences.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and confidence working collaboratively across business and technology teams.
  • High attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records and produce clear, well-structured documentation.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities, follow-up actions and deadlines.
  • A proactive, curious and improvement-focused mindset, with a willingness to learn and take ownership of outcomes.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 tools; exposure to data cataloguing, governance, reporting or workflow platforms (preferably Collibra) would be advantageous.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or industry certifications in data, information management, technology, risk or a related field would be desirable.
What you'll gain:
