Job summary

Meta is seeking a Data Engineer to shape data solutions across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, Reality Labs and more. You will design scalable data pipelines and models to support billions of users and hundreds of millions of businesses globally.

You will collaborate with software engineers, data scientists and product managers to optimize growth, strategy and user experiences, while ensuring data privacy, quality and compliant operations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience working with data in roles such as data analyst, data engineer or similar.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience with SQL, ETL, data modeling and at least one programming language.

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute data warehouse plans for a product or group of products.
• Identify data needs for business problems and implement logging to ensure data availability.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers and data scientists to translate data insights.
• Design, build and launch new data models and visualizations in production.
• Independently design and launch ETL processes, mentoring others on efficient queries.
• Support existing production data processes and optimize solutions with limited guidance.
• Define and manage SLAs for data sets in allocated areas.

Required Skills:

Data Engineer, Product Analytics Responsibilities:

1. Manage and execute data warehouse plans for a product or a group of products to solve well-scoped problems
2. Identify the data needed for a business problem and implement logging required to ensure availability of data, while working with data infrastructure to triage issues and resolve
3. Collaborate with engineers, product managers and data scientists to understand data needs, representing key data insights in a meaningful way
4. Build data expertise and leverage data controls to ensure privacy, security, compliance, data quality, and operations for allocated areas of ownership
5. Design, build and launch new data models and visualizations in production, leveraging common development toolkits
6. Independently design, build and launch new data extraction, transformation and loading processes in production, mentoring others around efficient queries
7. Support existing processes running in production and implement optimized solutions with limited guidance
8. Define and manage Service Level Agreements for data sets in allocated areas of ownership

Minimum Qualifications:

1. 2+ years of experience where the primary responsibility involves working with data. This could include roles such as data analyst, data scientist, data engineer, or similar positions
2. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
3. 2+ years of experience with SQL, ETL, data modeling, and at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C++, C#, Scala or others.)

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
2. Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
3. Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies

Public Compensation:

$114,000/year to $173,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
