EY Data & Analytics is seeking a Data Engineer to join the Technology Consulting team in Sydney. You will collaborate with stakeholders across the project lifecycle to define data journeys aligned with client strategies, architecture, and implementation, leveraging leading cloud technologies.

This hybrid role based in Sydney offers flexible hours and opportunities to work with diverse, global teams on data architecture, BI and analytics initiatives.

Qualifications

• Hands-on expertise with Spark, Python and SQL, plus one or more of Java, Scala or Kafka.
• Experience building data integration pipelines and working with RDBMS, NoSQL and blob storage technologies.
• Experience with cloud and container platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, containers or OpenStack.

Data Engineer – AI and Data - Technology Consulting

The opportunity

As our Data Engineer within EY Data & Analytics, you’ll help clients define and implement data journeys aligned to their strategic objectives. You’ll work across the project lifecycle, from strategy, road-mapping and architecture through to implementation and development, while collaborating with diverse stakeholders and using leading data and cloud technologies.

This is a hybrid position based in Warrang – Sydney. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.

Your key responsibilities

• Work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand complex data challenges and identify practical analytical and engineering solutions.
• Design and develop data integration patterns, scalable pipelines, and data profiling and cleansing frameworks across varied data types and platforms.
• Contribute across strategy, road-mapping, architecture, implementation and development to deliver high-quality outcomes for clients.

Skills and attributes for success

• Hands-on expertise with Spark, Python and SQL, together with experience in one or more of Java, Scala or Kafka.
• Experience building data integration pipelines and working with RDBMS, NoSQL and blob storage technologies.
• Experience with cloud and container platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, containers or OpenStack.

Ideally, you’ll also have the skills and attributes below but don’t worry if you don’t tick all the boxes. We’re interested in your aptitude, attitude and willingness to learn.

• Ability to assess data complexity, including volume, structure and relationships, and translate findings into effective solution designs.
• Experience delivering Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, Big Data or analytics projects.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working directly with clients in a consulting environment.
• A collaborative mindset and commitment to delivering quality outcomes as part of a diverse, high-performing team.
