Job summary

Ampstek is seeking a Senior Data Engineer for a Sydney-based 6-month contract to build and optimize data pipelines using Azure Data Lake Gen2, Synapse, and Databricks.

The role emphasizes hands-on development, Spark tuning, and complex SQL. You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with architects and product teams on technical trade-offs. On-site in Sydney with potential for extension.

Qualifications

• Hands-on data engineering with Azure Data Lake Gen2, Synapse and Databricks.
• Strong PySpark / Spark SQL and Spark tuning.
• Proficient SQL with window functions and CTEs.
• Experience mentoring engineers and working with cross-functional teams.
• CI/CD experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.

Responsibilities

• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers.
• Communicate trade-offs to architects and product teams.
• Develop and optimize data pipelines using Azure Databricks and Synapse.
