Job summary

FinXL IT Professional Services seeks an experienced Data Engineer to drive migration, modernisation, and restructuring of data assets in Melbourne. You will rewrite legacy reporting, rebuild Power BI dashboards, and update Power Automate workflows to align with a modern Azure Cloud environment.

You will design scalable data pipelines across Azure Data Factory, Synapse, and Databricks, ensuring governance and security across merged environments.

Qualifications

• Expert-level Power BI (DAX, Power Query, data modelling) and Power Automate proficiency.
• Hands-on experience with Azure data services: Data Factory, Synapse/SQL, Databricks.
• Strong SQL skills and scripting in Python or Scala.
• Experience with legacy data migration, schema redesign, and ETL optimisation.
• Familiarity with software engineering practices: source control (Git) and CI/CD for data deployments.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build and optimise scalable data pipelines to move workloads from legacy systems to Azure cloud.
• Re-engineer and enhance Power BI reports, data models and Power Automate workflows for modern cloud integration.
• Design and maintain analytics-ready data warehouses in Azure (Synapse, Databricks, Azure SQL).
• Ensure data governance, privacy and security controls across merged environments.
• Collaborate with Cloud and DevOps engineers to align deployments with Azure landing zone patterns and CD practices.

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our client's Cloud & Infrastructure transformation initiative in Melbourne. In this role, you will drive the migration, modernisation, and restructuring of data assets, with a primary focus on rewiring legacy reporting, rebuilding Power BI dashboards, and updating Power Automate workflows to align with a modern enterprise Azure Cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and optimise scalable data pipelines to transition workloads and data models from legacy systems into Azure Cloud infrastructure.
• Re-engineer, optimise, and rebuild existing Power BI reports, data models, and Power Automate workflows to ensure seamless integration with modern cloud architecture.
• Design and maintain performant data warehouse structures and analytics-ready datasets in Azure (Azure Synapse, Databricks, and Azure SQL Database).
• Ensure all data integration processes adhere to strict enterprise data governance, privacy, and security controls across merged environments.
• Partner closely with Cloud and DevOps engineers to align data pipeline deployments with broader Azure landing zone patterns and continuous delivery practices.
