Job summary

Digital Stack in Melbourne is seeking a data engineer to build and maintain secure, reliable data pipelines and datasets that support reporting and analytics. You will join an in-house development team using agile methodologies to enable new AI and Reporting features.

The role focuses on integrating data from applications, designing data models and warehouses, and implementing quality checks while pursuing performance improvements and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

• Strong SQL and Python experience.
• Experience building and operating production data pipelines.
• Data modelling and warehouse design.
• Experience with cloud platforms.
• Version control, testing and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to explain technical issues to business stakeholders.
• Desirable: Databricks experience.

Responsibilities

• Build automated ETL processes to extract, transform and load data.
• Develop and maintain data warehouse tables and models.
• Implement data quality checks, monitoring and recovery.
• Improve processing performance and reduce infra costs.

About the role

Build and maintain secure, reliable data pipelines and datasets that support reporting, analytics and business operations. Work with cutting-edge technologies in a dedicated, in-house development team using agile methodologies. This work will be foundational for enabling new AI and Reporting features in Digital Stack.

Key responsibilities

• Integrate data from business applications, databases, APIs and files.
• Build automated processes to extract, transform and load data.
• Develop and maintain data warehouse tables and reusable data models.
• Implement data quality checks, monitoring and failure recovery.
• Improve processing performance and infrastructure costs.
• Maintain documentation, access controls and deployment processes.
• Work with analysts and business stakeholders to deliver usable datasets.

About you

• Strong SQL and practical Python experience.
• Experience building and operating production data pipelines.
• Data modelling and warehouse design.
• Experience with selected cloud and data platform.
• Version control, testing and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to explain technical issues to business stakeholders.
• Desirable: Relevant experience with Databricks.
