The Mission — Why This Programme, Why Now?

You’re joining at the defining moment of one of the most significant technology programmes Australia has ever undertaken. You won’t be inheriting someone else’s design choices. You’ll be making them.

Your Role — Data Centre Security Manager

Imagine being the person who ensures the physical and operational security of some of the most critical infrastructure Australia has ever built.

This isn’t a role where you maintain the status quo. You’ll set the security strategy, manage budgets, lead transformative projects, and drive continuous improvements across our security practices and operations. Every decision you make will directly protect the data and operations.

You’ll collaborate across operations, engineering, HR, logistics, and construction — ensuring security is woven into every fibre of how we build and operate. You’ll be the trusted advisor who bridges the gap between government requirements and world‑class cloud infrastructure, building relationships that strengthen our security posture every single day.

This is your chance to shape the security framework for infrastructure that will serve Australia for decades to come.

Key job responsibilities

Your strategic vision will drive how we protect critical infrastructure. You’ll create, implement, and communicate security requirements that span personnel, physical, operational, technical, and industrial security disciplines. You’ll draft and review security documentation including transportation plans, procedures, and CONOPs that set the standard for how we operate.

But you’re not just a planner — you’re a problem solver. You’ll proactively identify security challenges before they become issues, developing sound solutions that sustain and enhance programme execution. You’ll perform and support the operations and maintenance of security hardware and systems, ensuring they meet both government and AWS requirements.

You will direct and manage onsite security forces, running daily security operations with precision and purpose. You’ll manage the program, ensuring every procedure aligns with internal and customer security policies. You’ll own the security P&L for your assigned sites, contributing financial analysis and decisions that balance security excellence with operational efficiency.

Relationships will be your superpower. You’ll build and strengthen partnerships with internal teams — operations staff, engineers, and teammates — as well as external vendors and contractors, heightening security awareness and engagement across the ecosystem. You’ll participate in recurring security audits and reviews, execute compliance processes aligned with AWS policies and relevant legal requirements, and share on‑call rotations to support alarms, incidents, and critical service outages.

About The Team

The team is comprised of security professionals with a cross section of national security, law enforcement, and private sector experience, providing a range of perspectives required for creative problem solving. We value diversity of thought, creativity, and a strong Bias for Action. We believe that there are no "perfect" security solutions and we develop and iterate using a continuous improvement process.
