Job summary

Ampcontrol is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Data Centres and Critical Power team, delivering mechanical designs for switchrooms and critical power infrastructure in data centre environments across Australia.

You will design systems, create 3D models in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD, participate in design reviews, and collaborate with project managers and workshop teams to ensure manufacturability and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Qualified Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineer with practical approach to design and manufacturing.
• Experience designing switchrooms, electrical enclosures or similar industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver mechanical designs according to customer specs and standards.
• Design and detail mechanical systems for switchrooms and critical power infrastructure.
• Create accurate 3D models and drawings using Inventor and AutoCAD.
• Participate in risk assessments, design reviews and project documentation.
• Ensure designs meet schedules and manufacturing constraints.
• Prepare work packages, test plans and QA documentation.
• Provide practical engineering solutions and collaborate with PMs and workshop teams.
• Offer mechanical design advice to other divisions as required.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards.
