Job summary

Reboot Monkey in Tamworth, NSW is seeking an experienced Data Center Technician for a full-time on-site role supporting mission-critical infrastructure at premier data center facilities. You will perform hardware deployments, structured cabling, server racking, cross-connects, and fault resolution, with 2+ years of data center or IT infra experience.

Strong English communication and the ability to lift 50+ lbs are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years in data center or IT infrastructure.
• Strong cabling and rack/stacking skills.
• Experience with multiple server brands (Dell/HP/Supermicro).
• On-site, on-call rotation, and strong communication in English.
• Data center or network certifications preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Perform hardware installations, decommissions, migrations.
• Execute structured cabling (copper and fiber).
• Rack, stack, and label servers.
• Perform cross-connects and patch panels.
• Troubleshoot connectivity and hardware issues.
• Document work with photos and notes.
• Coordinate with remote NOC and client teams.
• Operate in on-site data center environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform hardware installations, decommissions, and migrations
• Execute structured cabling (copper and fiber optic)
• Conduct server racking, stacking, and labeling
• Perform cross-connects and patch panel work
• Troubleshoot connectivity and hardware issues
• Document all work with photos and detailed notes
• Coordinate with remote NOC and client teams
• 2+ years data center or IT infrastructure experience
• Strong cabling skills (Cat5e/6/6a, single-mode/multi-mode fiber)
• Experience with server hardware (Dell, HP, Supermicro)
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in raised floor environments
• Own transportation and ability to work on-site
• Professional communication skills in English
• Data center certifications (CDCP, CDCS, or similar) - preferred
• Network certifications (CCNA, CompTIA Network+) - preferred
• Experience with DCIM and ticketing systems - preferred
• Familiarity with major colocation providers - preferred
• Standard tools: screwdrivers, cable testers, label makers, fiber inspection equipment
