The opportunity…

We are seeking a highly technical and hands-on D&A Manager (Data Engineering and Operations) to lead our technical data squad and drive the delivery of critical data initiatives.

Coming from a strong background in Data Platform, Architecture, or Engineering, you will balance deep technical expertise with exceptional delivery and initiative management skills. You will be responsible for planning and executing end-to-end data initiatives, spanning solution design, APIs, and data integration, while maintaining rigorous Data Management, Platform Governance, and operational excellence.

As a focused people leader, you will oversee workforce planning and team leadership specifically for the Data Engineering and Operations team, ensuring business-as-usual (BAU) stability while continuously improving our data ecosystem through proactive stakeholder engagement.

1. Data Management & Platform Governance
  • Establish and enforce governance frameworks (standards, security, data quality, access, lifecycle) to ensure trusted, compliant data environments.
  • Oversee data accessibility, controls, and tooling while embedding governance practices across business and technology stakeholders.
2. Data Engineering & Operations
  • Lead design, delivery, and optimisation of scalable enterprise data platforms, including integration, ingestion, modelling, and performance management.
  • Ensure reliable operations through monitoring, incident management, testing, deployment practices, and strong documentation standards.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, setting clear goals, managing capacity, and driving performance and accountability.
  • Plan workforce needs including hiring, capability development, cross-skilling, and establishing effective team operating cadence.
4. Delivery Management and Prioritisation
  • Manage end-to-end delivery of data initiatives using prioritisation, planning, Agile practices, and alignment to business value.
  • Oversee vendors and stakeholders, ensuring delivery quality, risk management, and clear reporting to leadership.
5. Stakeholder Engagement and Continuous Improvement
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and translate technical concepts into clear business communication to support strategy execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement through KPIs, feedback, industry awareness, and evolving business and technology needs.

Experience required:
  • 10+ years experience in data and analytics roles, including hands‑on data engineering, platforms and enterprise reporting.
  • Proven leadership experience managing technical teams, planning work, and delivering across competing priorities.
  • Deep technical expertise in cloud data and analytics platforms and tools (e.g. Fabric, Power BI, SAP BW), and experience with Git‑based version control, deployment pipelines, data integration and modelling, with strong SQL/Python capability.
  • Solid governance, security, and regulatory understanding, including data quality, access management, and lifecycle controls.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and problem‑solving skills, with a proactive, detail‑oriented approach and ability to drive delivery and continuous improvement.
