Job summary

Saputo Dairy Australia is seeking a Mechanical Fitter to join our Burnie maintenance team on a structured rotating roster. You’ll undertake preventative and reactive maintenance, fault finding and equipment improvements to support plant reliability and minimise downtime.

This hands-on role requires trade qualification in mechanical fitting, strong fault-finding skills, and the ability to work confidently and autonomously across production equipment, including TIG welding on stainless steel.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting or Fitting & Machining.
• 4th-year apprentices will be considered.
• Experience in dairy, FMCG, or manufacturing is highly regarded.
• Strong fault-finding skills and ability to work autonomously.
• Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics is desirable.
• TIG welding experience would be highly regarded.
• Comfortable with a rotating days/nights/weekends roster.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking proactive, preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance across the site.
• Diagnosing faults and responding to equipment breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
• Mechanical fitting, machining and repairs across production equipment.
• Welding and fabrication, including TIG welding on stainless steel.
• Supporting plant upgrades, installations and continuous improvement activities.
• Working safely and collaboratively with the broader maintenance and production teams.
