Job summary

Australia Post is seeking a SIEM Cyber Security Specialist to enhance and operate enterprise SIEM capabilities across IT and OT environments. You’ll design log ingestion pipelines, tune detections and work with Cloud, Network and Architecture teams to secure large-scale systems.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, threat intel use cases, and building automation within a hybrid work model that supports two remote days per week.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years’ experience with SIEM technologies (Microsoft stack)
  • Microsoft Azure / Sentinel experience or industry security certifications (CISSP / GIAC) highly regarded
  • Designed and built log ingestion and onboarding
  • Strong detection engineering and threat-use-case development
  • Building data ingestion pipelines, DCRs, ETL, and connectors (Codeless/ Syslog)
  • Strong KQL capability for queries, detections and dashboards
  • Knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK and NIST frameworks
  • Experience with DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines
  • Scripting skills in Python, SQL, PowerShell

Responsibilities

  • Support and enhance the SIEM platform, ensuring availability and data quality
  • Design and build log ingestion and ETL pipelines across platforms
  • Engineer, tune and maintain detections, alerts and dashboards
  • Apply threat intelligence to detection engineering

About the Opportunity

As SIEM Cyber Security Specialist, you’ll play a critical role in supporting and enhancing Australia Post’s SIEM platform, which underpins all Threat Detection & Response capability across cloud, data centre and operational environments.

Australia Post is investing heavily in cyber security as part of a major enterprise transformation. You’ll be part of a technically strong, collaborative team working closely with Cloud, Network, Identity, Architecture and Security teams across the enterprise and strengthen our ability to detect and respond to threats across large‑scale IT and OT environments. This is a technical, hands‑on role for someone who enjoys building, improving and operating SIEM capability at enterprise scale.

You’ll also

  • Support and enhance the SIEM platform, ensuring availability, performance and data quality
  • Design and build log ingestion and ETL pipelines to onboard data from diverse platforms and applications
  • Engineer, tune and maintain detections, correlation rules, alerts and dashboards aligned to threat use cases
  • Apply threat intelligence and threat landscape knowledge to detection engineering
  • Build automation and improve operational processes across Threat Detection & Response
  • Work closely with internal technology teams to ensure end‑to‑end detection validity from source to alert
About you

You’re a technically strong cyber security professional with strong experience in SIEM engineering and detection (Microsoft stack). You have worked in complex, large environments, collaborating across teams, and translating security requirements into practical technical solutions.

You’ll also need

  • 4+ years’ experience working with SIEM technologies (Microsoft Technologies)
  • Microsoft Azure / Sentinel or Industry certifications such as CISSP or GIAC (highly regarded)
  • Designed and built log ingestion and log onboarding
  • Strong experience in detection engineering and threat use‑case development
  • Building data ingestion pipelines, DCRs, ETL, Codeless Connectors and Syslog
  • Strong KQL capability (queries, detections, dashboards)
  • Knowledge of frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK and NIST
  • DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines
  • Scripting (e.g. Python, SQL, Powershell)
