Whizdom is seeking an Entra ID MFA and Identity Security Engineer for a 6-month contract in Sydney. The role is hybrid, with three days onsite.

You will design, implement and support enterprise-scale identity security solutions, focusing on Entra ID, MFA, Conditional Access and Zero Trust across a complex Microsoft ecosystem. You will lead MFA rollouts, strengthen identity protection, and collaborate with infrastructure, security and workplace teams to deliver secure, scalable authentication

They are currently supporting a major identity modernisation initiative within a large enterprise environment, focused on strengthening authentication, access controls and Zero Trust security capabilities across a complex Microsoft ecosystem.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Entra ID MFA & Identity Security Engineer to join a high-profile identity and cyber security program.

You will play a key role in designing, implementing and supporting enterprise-scale identity security solutions, with a strong focus on Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Conditional Access, Identity Protection and Microsoft Entra ID.

This role will suit an experienced identity specialist who enjoys working across security, infrastructure and workplace teams while leading large-scale identity transformation initiatives in complex enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Identity & Access Management

• Design, implement and support Microsoft Entra ID authentication and identity solutions.
• Configure and manage Entra ID authentication methods, MFA policies and Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR).
• Implement and maintain Identity Protection capabilities across the enterprise.
• Design and implement Conditional Access policies aligned to Zero Trust security principles.
• Support authentication, authorisation and identity governance initiatives.

MFA & Identity Security Transformation

• Lead large-scale MFA rollout and migration programs.
• Develop enterprise authentication strategies to improve user experience and security outcomes.
• Support the implementation of cloud-native identity and access management solutions.
• Perform identity security assessments and recommend security improvements.
• Strengthen access controls and reduce identity-related risks across the environment.

Enterprise Identity Integration

• Collaborate with infrastructure, workplace, application and security teams.
• Support integration of enterprise applications with Entra ID authentication services.
• Troubleshoot authentication, federation and access-related issues.
• Support hybrid identity, federation and synchronisation initiatives.
• Contribute to the development of secure identity architectures.

Governance, Compliance & Documentation

• Produce architecture documentation, implementation plans and operational runbooks.
• Support audit, compliance and governance initiatives.
• Ensure identity solutions align with enterprise security standards and best practice.
• Contribute to operational readiness and ongoing service improvement activities.

The Successful Candidate

You will be an experienced identity and security engineer with strong Microsoft identity expertise and a track record delivering enterprise-scale authentication and access management solutions.

• Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
• Proven experience delivering large-scale MFA implementations and migrations.
• Experience configuring and supporting Authentication Methods, MFA and Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR).
• Strong understanding of Conditional Access and Zero Trust security principles.
• Experience implementing Identity Protection capabilities.
• Strong knowledge of hybrid identity architectures, federation and synchronisation technologies.
• Experience troubleshooting complex authentication and access issues.
• Strong understanding of identity governance and access management practices.
• Experience working within large enterprise environments.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Highly Regarded

• Experience within telecommunications, financial services or other large enterprise environments.
• Experience supporting Azure IaaS, PaaS and SaaS environments.
• Knowledge of identity governance and access management frameworks.
• Experience delivering identity security assessment and remediation programs.
• Microsoft security and identity certifications.
• Experience working within cyber security consulting or professional services organisations.
