Job summary

CSIRO is seeking a Cyber Security Architect to secure two large transformation programs. You will deliver hands-on architecture, advise programme teams, and translate requirements into practical controls and assurance activities.

You’ll work with program teams, partners and platform owners to strengthen CSIRO's cyber resilience and embed security patterns across the organisation. A current NV1 clearance and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in cyber security, information technology, computer science, engineering or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Extensive experience as a cyber security architect or senior security consultant delivering hands-on security architecture outcomes in complex technology environments.
• Current Australian Government NV1 security clearance.
• Experience providing secure-by-design advice across major transformation programmes, including solution design review, control definition, risk assessment, threat modelling, assurance planning and security architecture documentation.
• Strong knowledge of cyber security frameworks and best practice guidance (e.g., Australian Government ISM, NIST CSF, ISO 27001).
• Ability to influence secure outcomes with diverse stakeholders in a complex delivery environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication to explain risks and controls clearly.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on cyber security architecture and secure-by-design delivery support for major transformation programmes.
• Act as primary cyber security architect and advisory contact for programmes, delivering risk-based advice to teams and platform owners.
• Review designs, artefacts and proposals to identify security risks and improvement opportunities.
• Develop security architecture guidance, threat models, risk assessments and treatment plans.
• Translate standards into practical delivery actions for project teams.
• Embed security controls across design, procurement, build and operations.
• Support governance forums with clear risk and exception guidance.
