Job summary

nbn is seeking a Customer Field Technician in the Shepparton area to install, maintain, and repair cabling and customer equipment across multiple technologies. You will work independently in customers' homes or businesses, providing clear guidance and support while delivering quality workmanship.

No telecommunications experience is required as full training is provided, with emphasis on safety and customer interaction.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in telecommunications isn't required; training will be provided.
• Hands-on problem solving and customer interaction are valued.
• Trade background or hands-on technical/customer-facing experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Install copper or fibre cabling and customer equipment.
• Identify and fix faults, perform maintenance and servicing.

A bit about your role

As a Customer Field Technician, you'll work independently to complete a variety of tasks across different nbn technologies. Your work will include installations, repairs, maintenance, and supporting customers in their homes or businesses. Your day might involve installing copper or fibre cabling, setting up customer equipment, identifying and fixing faults, and ensuring customers feel supported and informed throughout the process.

A bit about you

Previous experience in telecommunications isn't needed — we'll teach you everything you need to know. What matters most is that you enjoy hands‑on work, like solving problems, and feel comfortable speaking with customers. You might come from a trade, a hands‑on technical job, or a customer‑focused trade role. Experience in fields like plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, labouring, construction, mechanical work, or manufacturing is highly valued. You'll do well in this role if you enjoy working independently, managing your workload, and taking pride in delivering quality work. A strong commitment to safety, clear communication skills, and a current, clean Driver's Licence are essential.
