Job summary

Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation seeks a Cultural Heritage Advisor to support the SAHA program on Wadawurrung Country. The role focuses on research, fieldwork, consultation and reporting, advancing Aboriginal cultural heritage considerations in land use planning and development.

The ideal candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in archaeology or related field, have Victorian heritage experience, and demonstrate strong relationship-building and communication skills with

Qualifications

• Experience in Aboriginal Cultural Heritage management in Victoria and knowledge of the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (Vic).
• Experience undertaking cultural heritage research, fieldwork, assessments and report writing.
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
• Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Undertake cultural heritage research, fieldwork and assessment activities.
• Support identification and recording of living, tangible and intangible Aboriginal Cultural Heritage values.
• Participate in meetings, workshops, interviews, site visits and consultations with Traditional Owners and stakeholders.
• Support Traditional Owners to participate in assessments and ensure their knowledge and directions are recorded respectfully and accurately.
• Undertake field surveys, including field notes, photography, site recording and mapping.
• Collaborate with heritage advisors, archaeologists, planners, consultants and other stakeholders.
• Prepare reports, cultural values summaries, recommendations and briefings.
• Maintain accurate project records and appropriately handle sensitive cultural information.

Education

Tertiary qualification in archaeology, cultural heritage management or anthropology
