About the role

Mater Private Hospital Redlands are seeking applications from experienced CSSD Technicians to join the Perioperative team. The successful candidate will be offered either Casual employment with 24-32 hours a week. Availability to work across a mixture of day and afternoon shifts from Monday – Friday and the occasional Saturday is required.

Our Perioperative Unit specialises in surgical procedures including gynaecology, general surgery, orthopaedics, plastics, urology, ophthalmology, and endoscopy. The team prides itself on giving the highest standards of care to our patients and outstanding clinical support to our team of surgeons and anaesthetists.

  • Apply appropriate cleaning methods, disinfecting agents and procedures on surgical instrumentation.
  • Process equipment for transfer to an external sterilising unit where necessary.
  • Assist the perioperative clinical team in delivering clinical care under the direction and supervision of the Registered and Enrolled Nurses when necessary.
  • Maintain a sound knowledge of surgical instruments and packaging techniques.
  • Conduct all sterilisation procedures following accepted sterilisation methods and principles.
  • Process endoscopic equipment for multi-use purposes.
  • Store sterilised items appropriately to maintain sterility and maximise access and efficiency.
About you

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following criteria:

  • Minimum of 6mth experience working in a hospital CSSD
  • A demonstrated understanding of infection control principles.
  • Basic computer skills
  • A background working in a clinical / health care background
  • Practical interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exposure to Sterilisation Services in a healthcare environment
  • Previous experience in a CSSD role with the ability to work in all areas with a high degree of autonomy and accountability.
