Job summary

Maroochy Private Hospital Pty Ltd in Maroochydore is seeking an experienced CSSD technician to monitor and maintain sterilised RMDs and equipment, ensuring regulatory compliance and patient safety.

You will work across departments to ensure timely availability of sterile RMDs for surgery, handle instruments, operate autoclave and disinfectors, and maintain records in line with hospital policies and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in the CSSD environment.
• Understanding of infection control principles and best practices in sterilisation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Safe handling of contaminated instruments and hazardous materials.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain the integrity of sterilised RMDs and equipment, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Understand infection control principles and best practices in sterilisation.
• Work closely with other departments within the hospital to ensure timely availability of sterile RMDs for surgery and other procedures.
• Work on own initiative, prioritize and manage multiple issues simultaneously and demonstrate attention to detail.
• Identify and sort surgical instruments correctly.
• Inspect instruments for damage, cleanliness and function before sterilisation.
• Wrap and package instruments using appropriate materials (pouches, wrap, tray).
• Operate autoclave, ultrasonic cleaners, washer disinfector and sterilisation tray.
• Use chemical indicators (CIs) and biological indicators (BIs).
• Maintain effective record keeping and compliance with hospital policies and work health and safety.
