The Role

This is a casual position, five days per week, you must be available for three or more days a week.

As a Crew Member, you will work as part of a dedicated team of bush regenerators and environmental practitioners. Your primary focus will be maintaining and restoring the health of regenerating bushland through high-standard ecological restoration practices, practical field execution, and positive team collaboration under the direction of the Team Leader.

Key Responsibilities

Field Operations & Teamwork

• Execute daily restoration tasks efficiently and to a high standard, following directions from the Team Leader.
• Work collaboratively with team members to foster a safe, productive, and supportive team environment.

Ecological Restoration

• Undertake weed control using manual, chemical, and biological methods.
• Identify indigenous plant species and invasive weeds.
• Participate actively in revegetation works, site preparation, and ongoing habitat management.

Monitoring and Assessment

• Assist with flora and fauna surveys to assess biodiversity values and monitor ecosystem health.
• Support site condition assessments and field data collection as instructed.

Safety and Quality

• Strictly adhere to all Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and company safety protocols.
• Participate in daily Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), hazard identifications, and safety briefings.
• Complete required field documentation, timesheets, and reporting accurately and promptly.

Professional Representation

• Represent Habitat Land Management professionally on site and maintain positive interactions with team members, clients, and community stakeholders.

Requirements and Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with relevant hands-on experience in the conservation and land management industry (typically 1+ years), or motivated individuals with relevant formal qualifications seeking to build a career in environmental restoration.

• Solid knowledge of Victorian ecological vegetation communities, including indigenous plant and weed identification.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in revegetation and weed control techniques.
• Practical knowledge of chemical handling, storage, and application safety.
• Effective communication skills and a strong commitment to working constructively within a team environment.
• Ability to manage time effectively, follow instructions, and adapt to changing daily task requirements.
• Moderate to high level of physical fitness for field operations across varied terrain and weather conditions.
• Basic computer literacy (e.g., Microsoft Office suite).

Mandatory Licences and Certifications

• Certificate III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management, Conservation and Land Management, or equivalent industry experience.
• ChemCert or equivalent chemical handling accreditation.
• Senior First Aid (Level 2).

Highly Regarded

• Construction Induction Card (White Card).
• Chainsaw - Operate and Maintain certification.
• Planned Burn Crew Member qualification (PUAFIR210 Prevent Injury / PUAFIR215 Prevent and Respond to Fire) or willingness to obtain.
• National Police Check and Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain.
• Certificate IV or Bachelor's degree in a related environmental field.
• Chainsaw Level 2 - Fall Trees Manually.
• Planned Burn Operations qualification (PUAFIR308 Conduct Planned Burning Operations).
• Experience operating machinery such as deck mowers and tractors.
