Job summary

Mount Isa Mines in Mount Isa, Queensland, is seeking a skilled Crane Operator to operate 18 and 20-tonne cranes within the Zinc Lead Concentrator and provide crane support across the Lead Smelter, Copper Smelter, and George Fisher Mine. The role offers a 56-hour week roster with after-hours flexibility.

The successful candidate will hold C0 Crane, DG, RB and HR licences, with CN/CB tickets desirable, and a proven track record in heavy industrial crane operation, safety, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High Risk Work Licence – C0 (Crane) and DG/RB tickets are mandatory.
• HR Licence is mandatory; CN/CB tickets are desirable.
• Experience operating mobile cranes in mining/heavy industry is required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills are essential.
• SAP experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Operate cranes safely and effectively in line with lift plans and site requirements.
• Plan and execute complex lifting operations across Zinc Lead Concentrator, Lead Smelter and Copper Smelter.
• Perform lifts per lift plans, procedures, and site standards.
• Support shutdowns, infrastructure upgrades and fixed plant projects.
• Assist mobilisation/demobilisation of mobile equipment and site logistics.
• Load/unload trucks and support maintenance/workshop teams.

Mount Isa Mines is currently seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Crane Operator to join the team, operating 18 & 20-tonne cranes primarily within the Zinc Lead Concentrator. This role also provides crane support across the Lead Smelter, Copper Smelter, and George Fisher Mine (GFM). You’ll play a key role in executing complex lifts, supporting maintenance activities, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of mobile lifting equipment across multiple processing areas.

Reporting to the Supervisor – Coordinator Maintenance, you will work a 56-hour week roster with the flexibility to support call-ins and after-hours work as required by operational demands.

• Assist with mobilisation/demobilisation of mobile equipment and site logistics
• Load/unload trucks and provide general support to the maintenance and workshop teams as required

You will have the following skillset and attributes:

• High Risk Work Licence – C0 (Crane) – mandatory
• Dogging (DG) and Basic Rigging (RB) tickets – mandatory
• HR (Heavy Rigid) Licence – mandatory
• CN (Non-slewing mobile crane) and CB (Bridge and gantry crane) tickets – desirable
• EWP (Elevated Work Platform) High Risk Ticket
• Forklift – High Risk Ticket
• Experience operating mobile cranes in a heavy industrial or mining environment
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• SAP experience desirable
