Job summary

Nyrstar is seeking a Cost Controller to join the Asset Management team in Port Pirie. You will manage cost reporting from SAP, support budget development, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance financial management practices.

In this permanent role, you will contribute to operational excellence, ensure accuracy of cost tracking, and support the preparation of departmental budgets while working within a safety‑mocused, global mining environment.

Qualifications

• Certificate in Finance (nice to have).
• Certificate in Administration (optional but desirable).
• Proficiency and experience with SAP systems.
• Strong financial management and data entry skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail and excellent time-management.
• Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Strong relationship management with internal and external stakeholders.
• Customer service focus and proactive problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Extracting and developing cost reports from SAP.
• Reconciliation of departmental spend data against cost tracking sheets.
• Providing spending reports to Asset Management leaders.
• Facilitating the development of the departmental budget.
• Monitoring high-cost purchase orders, monthly accruals, and cost settlements.
• Collaborating with site Finance Teams to align financial management practices.
• Addressing supplier payment issues in partnership with Procurement, Accounts Payable, and Contractor Management Teams.
• Performing ad-hoc analyses and supporting additional administrative tasks as required.

Key Responsibilities

In this hands-on role, you will:
