Job summary

Law360 Australia, a LexisNexis company, is seeking an experienced copy editor to maintain accuracy, clarity and professionalism in daily news coverage across legal, regulatory and business topics.

You will work closely with reporters and editors in Sydney, edit breaking news, analyses and features, ensure adherence to house style, craft engaging headlines and help manage editorial risks while contributing to planning conversations and using AI tools under strong human judgement.

Qualifications

• 2–6 years copy-editing experience
• Experience editing news copy in a deadline-driven environment
• Strong grammar, spelling, writing and headline-writing skills
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify factual inconsistencies
• Sound editorial judgement and ability to work independently
• Ability to manage competing deadlines and provide constructive feedback to journalists

Responsibilities

• Edit daily news stories for accuracy, clarity, structure and readability
• Write accurate, engaging headlines for a professional audience
• Ensure articles meet editorial standards and house style
• Apply sound news judgement and prioritise breaking stories
• Identify and escalate potential legal, ethical or editorial risks
• Provide clear, constructive feedback to reporters and editors
• Collaborate with reporters, editors and external contributors
• Contribute to editorial planning and newsroom discussions
• Liaise with contributors and internal legal teams
• Explore approved tools, including AI, while maintaining human judgement
