Job summary

Catholic Healthcare in Tumut is seeking a motivated Catering team member to prepare meals for residents and lead a small team of catering assistants. You will ensure meals meet dietary needs and maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness.

This casual role requires managing resources within the kitchen, adhering to safety standards, and delivering friendly, respectful service to residents and their families.

Qualifications

  • Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) is required.
  • Basic Food Safety Practices Certificate is required.
  • NDIS and Police check clearance or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare fresh and nutritious meals for residents in line with dietary needs.
  • Manage kitchen resources and equipment within approved budget.
  • Maintain a hygienic kitchen compliant with Aged Care quality standards.

As a member of the Catering team at Blakeney Lodge, Tumut, you will be preparing meals for our residents and managing an established team of catering assistants. This role includes overseeing the effective meal service to our aged care residents, as well as providing best practice service in kitchen cleanliness, documentation and food preparation.

About The Role
  • Preparing fresh and nutritious meals for residents online with their dietary needs
  • Managing all resources within the kitchen including equipment and food supplies within your approved budget
  • Maintaining a hygienically clean kitchen that is fully compliant with the Aged Care quality standards
To be successful in this role you’ll need
  • A kind heart and genuine passion for providing high quality care to the elderly
  • Comfortable interacting with a wide variety of people
  • Good communication skills
  • A reliable team player
  • Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery)
  • Basic Food safety Practices Certificate
  • Good understanding of food safety practices, kitchen cleanliness and hygiene
  • Understanding of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) preferred
  • To be able to follow instructions and work with minimal supervision
  • Able to establish and maintain professional and appropriate relationships with residents and their families
  • NDIS and Police check clearance or willing to obtain
