Job summary

Mercy Health in Myrtleford (VIC) is seeking an experienced Cook to join our aged care facility. You will prepare nutritious, high‑quality meals that cater to resident dietary needs and preferences, while maintaining a clean, hygienic kitchen aligned with food safety standards.

As part of a compassionate team, you will collaborate with dietitians and care staff to ensure meal quality, manage stocks, support menu planning, and mentor kitchen assistants when required.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (minimum requirement).
• Significant experience in commercial cooking.
• Compassionate, flexible and positive approach to resident care and management.
• Ability to work in a collaborative kitchen team.
• Current Police Check or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals in line with aged care dietary requirements, menus and resident preferences.
• Maintain a clean, hygienic, and organized kitchen in line with food safety standards.
• Ensure texture-modified, diabetic and allergen-free meals are accurately prepared and served.
• Store food in temperature-controlled facilities.
• Collaborate with dietitians and staff to ensure meal quality and care plan compliance.
• Supervise kitchen assistants or staff when required; assist with stock, rotation, and menu planning.

Salary: $63,000 to $90,000 per annum (Based on qualifications, experience and other applicable allowances)

About the opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced, passionate, and dedicated Cook to join our aged care facility in Myrtleford (73 Prince Street, Myrtleford VIC 3737) . You will play a vital role in preparing nutritious, high-quality meals that cater to the dietary needs of our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook meals in accordance with aged care dietary requirements, menu plans, and resident preferences.


• Maintain a clean, hygienic, and organized kitchen environment in line with food safety standards.


• Ensure special diets (texture-modified, diabetic, allergen-free) are accurately prepared and served.


• Storing food in temperature controlled facilities


• Collaborate with dietitians and facility staff to ensure meal quality and compliance with care plans.


• Supervise and mentor kitchen assistants or food service staff when required.


• Participate in stock ordering, rotation, menu planning and waste management.
