Job description

  • About the Koorie Youth Council (KYC)

The Koorie Youth Council (KYC) is the representative body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people in Victoria. Guided by an Executive of 15 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and our state-wide members, KYC values the diversity and strength of young people as decision-makers. KYC advocates to government and community to advance the rights and representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people. By hosting events like the annual Koorie Youth Summit, KYC brings Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people together to amplify their voices for social change.

Overview

As the KYC Content Creator you will be responsible for designing and delivering engaging visual, written and multimedia content across a range of digital platforms. This includes managing KYC’s social media presence, producing digital campaigns and supporting storytelling initiatives in line with our organisational values and priorities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating culturally appropriate written, visual and video content for social media, newsletters, blogs and campaigns
  • Managing and growing KYC’s digital presence across platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and TikTok
  • Designing graphics, editing video and producing short-form content for digital engagement
  • Collaborating with young people, staff and stakeholders to develop high-quality, community-led content
  • Monitoring analytics and providing insights to improve engagement and reach

Key Selection Criteria

  • Strong understanding of the Victorian Aboriginal community and the issues impacting young people
  • Demonstrated experience creating written, visual and video content for digital platforms
  • Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Creative Suite or similar design tools
  • Experience managing and growing social media channels
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage respectfully with young people and community
