Job summary

Sante Recruitment represents a Level 4 obstetric service in Victoria, offering 24-hour inpatient and emergency care with paediatric support. The role spans obstetrics, gynaecology and community paediatrics, including outreach to Bairnsdale and high-volume ED exposure.

Fellowship of the FRACP or equivalent is required or assessed as suitable. Training and area of need candidacy may apply. Up to 1.0 FTE is available with part-time options considered.

Qualifications

• Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or other fully/partially comparable qualifications.
• Postgraduate clinical training and experience assessed by the RACP as being fully or partially comparable to an Australian physician.

Responsibilities

• Provide obstetric care within a Level 4 service with capability up to 34 weeks.
• Participate in inpatient and 24-hour emergency department coverage.
• Collaborate with paediatrics, obstetrics, gynaecology and other specialties as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Engage in outreach services to Bairnsdale and support community paediatrics clinics.

Job Description

This is a Level 4 Obstetric service with a capability of 34 weeks. CGH has a Level 3 Nursery. The service includes a 24 hour inpatient and emergency department service There were approximately 430 births, average 650 general paediatric admissions. ED presentations were 16,600 of which approximately 25% are paediatric. The service operates a community paediatrics clinic 5 days per week and outreach services to Bairnsdale. The paediatric service has an establishment of up to 4 specialist paediatricians, 1 paediatric advanced trainee registrar and 1 HMO.

The Hospital treats approximately 12,000 acute inpatients and 17,000+ Emergency Department patients per year. It provides specialist surgical, medical, obstetrics and gynaecology and paediatric services with some general practice inpatients. There is a 6 bed Critical Care Unit that provides ventilation and haemofiltration. There is also a number of visiting sub-specialty services including Urology, Cardiology, Oncology, Nephrology & Haemodialysis. Surgical services are supported by both specialist and general practitioner anaesthetists.

Up to 1.0 FTE is available; part time and job share applications will be considered.
