Job summary

Southern Adelaide Local Health Network invites applications for a Neonatologist to deliver high-standard neonatal care within a multidisciplinary academic clinical team. The role focuses on rigorous evidence-based practice, family-centered support, and leadership in Perinatal Medicine.

Reporting to the Head of Unit, you will contribute to clinical governance, supervise registrars and neonatal nurses, and engage in teaching.

Qualifications

  • MBBS or equivalent degree and Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia in Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in neonatology and ability to supervise junior medical staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality clinical service for newborn patients at Flinders Medical Centre under the clinical service head.
  • Coordinate follow-up care and ongoing management of neonates.
  • Contribute to development of clinical guidelines and protocols.
  • Promote continuity of care through effective communication with general practitioners.

Neonatologist|Permanent Opportunity |A Career-Defining Role in Public Neonatal Medicine

Work alongside a multidisciplinary academic clinical team delivering the highest standard of care to newborn infants and their families, and one that understands that excellent neonatal care is built equally on rigorous science, collaborative practice, and compassionate family-centered support.

About the role:

Reporting to the Head of Unit, this role will be providing appropriate clinical care to patients.

Duties for the role will include:
  • Provide a high-quality clinical service under the direction of the relevant clinical service head to patients of Flinders Medical Centre
  • Coordinating the follow up care of patients
  • Participating in the development of clinical guidelines and protocols
  • Ensuring effective communication with care providers, especially General Practitioners, to promote continuity of patient care.
  • Providing appropriate direction and supervision to Registrars, Resident Medical Officers, and Neonatal Nurses
About you:
  • Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration (Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine); or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award.
  • Clinical experience and competence in the practice of Neonatology consistent with the criteria for completion of RACP subspecialty training in Neonatology
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people including colleagues and other professional staff
  • High level skills in problem solving and decision making
  • Good teaching skills
