Job summary

Hiringa is seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to support Australian entities and projects from its Sydney office. You will own monthly management accounts, tax compliance, and financial reporting while strengthening controls and systems to enable smarter commercial decisions.

You will collaborate with finance, project and operations teams to deliver accurate numbers, budgets and forecasts in a growing, energy-focused business.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA qualification with at least two years' post‑qualification experience.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and IFRS.
• Solid understanding of Australian tax requirements (GST, FBT and income tax).
• Experience preparing management accounts, budgets, forecasts and annual financial statements in an in‑house corporate environment.
• Experience within Energy and/or Construction industries preferred but not essential.
• Proficient with accounting platforms such as Xero, MYOB or other ERP systems.
• Excellent Excel and data analysis skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with cross‑functional teams.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

• Maintain fixed asset registers, depreciation and asset capitalisation.

• Support annual budgets and monthly or quarterly reforecasts.
• Manage day‑to‑day interactions with the Australian Taxation Office and external advisers.
• Strengthen internal controls and help implement better finance systems and data practices.
• Work closely with project cost controls to maintain accurate coding and accounting treatment.

Hiringa is a next-generation energy company developing, building and operating renewable energy and green hydrogen projects across Australia and New Zealand. We’re working to decarbonise hard‑to‑abate sectors, including heavy transport and industrial processes, by creating commercially sustainable energy infrastructure.

We’re looking for a Financial Accountant to support our Australian entities and projects. This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys getting into the detail, improving how things work and turning financial information into practical insight for the wider business.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll work closely with our finance, project and operations teams. You’ll take a lead role in Australian financial reporting and tax compliance while helping strengthen the systems, controls and information that support good commercial decisions.

Our Sydney office is located in central Sydney (Customhouse Quay) and in amongst other clean tech innovators.

Your work will include:

• Preparing monthly management accounts for our Australian entities
• Preparing Australian tax calculations and filings, including GST, FBT and income tax

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a capable, curious accountant who combines strong technical fundamentals with a practical and collaborative approach. You’ll be comfortable owning recurring deliverables, working across several entities and projects, and improving processes as the business grows.

You’ll bring:

• CA or CPA qualification, with at least two years’ post‑qualification experience
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and IFRS
• Sound knowledge of Australian tax requirements, including GST, FBT and income tax
• Experience preparing management accounts, budgets, forecasts and annual financial statements in an in‑house corporate environment
