Job summary

Coffey Testing is expanding with a new location at Albion Park Quarry in New South Wales. We are seeking experienced Construction Materials Testing Technicians to support busy lab and field operations.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years in CMT, understand AS1289/AS1141, and can perform tests on soils, aggregates and concrete. Roles are full-time and physically demanding, with opportunities across a national network.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' hands-on Construction Materials Testing experience.
• Not entry level; engineering experience without CMT is not sufficient.
• Demonstrates commitment to quality assurance and workplace safety.
• Holds or is eligible for relevant testing qualifications and licenses.

Responsibilities

• Perform tests on soil, aggregates and concrete to Australian standards.
• Liaise with Coffey Testing’s client onsite on testing schedules and results.
• Ensure accuracy of test data and timely output of results.
• Maintain and calibrate lab and field testing equipment.

Coffey Testing has been successful is gaining a new contract and this has given us the ability to provide opportunities for motivated and experienced Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technicians to join us in our new location based at Albion Park. The location of the lab is in the Albion Park Quarry.

We are one of Australia’s largest construction materials testing providers. We have been delivering testing services to the transport infrastructure, oil and gas and mining industries for over 65 years. We have an extensive network of permanent and site-specific testing facilities located across Australia, including in some of Australia’s most remote locations.

Our clients choose us to provide deep insights into the properties of the materials they’re dealing with. We apply specialised testing and analysis services, using international best practice and conformance standards to achieve detailed, quality results. We provide independent NATA accredited testing services.

The Opportunities

CMTs play a vital role in ensuring the quality and safety of the construction materials used in some of Australia’s largest rail, mining and infrastructure projects. We have permanent full-time roles available for Experienced CMT Technicians. These roles are best suited to people that have at least 2 years of hands-on Construction Materials Testing experience. We respectfully advise that these particular opportunities are not entry level roles and that engineering experience, without actual CMT Technician experience, will not meet the requirements of these positions. These positions are best suited to someone who can meet the criteria listed:

• Minimum 2 years' experience in Construction Materials Testing industry;
• Demonstrates an unwavering commitment to quality assurance and workplace safety;
• Is physically fit and able to perform a manual labour-intensive role which includes heavy lifting;
• Can work effectively under pressure, prioritising work to meet client demands;
• Has sound experience in field and laboratory construction materials testing to Australia standards or is looking to start a career in construction materials testing;
• Has the ability to work autonomously and displays a level of self-motivation;
• Performs an undertaking of a variety of manual tasks in the field and in the laboratory, including preparing and testing soil, aggregates & concrete samples;
• Completing the following tests - Triaxials, permeabilities, aggregates, rock testing and materials;
• Liaising with Coffey Testing’s client onsite on testing schedules, procedures and results, representing the Coffey Testing brand;
• Can perform routine quality assurance checks and calibrations, ensuring all equipment is maintained;
• Ensures accuracy of test results and timely output of work;
• Has demonstrated experience in laboratory and field testing in soils, aggregates and/or concrete to relevant standards (AS1289, AS1141, AS1012);
• Is NATA approved Signatory (highly advantageous);
• Ideally holds a current NDM Radiation license (highly advantageous); and/or
• Holds a current manual driver's licence (essential).
