Job summary

Aggreko plc is seeking a Construction Lead (Electrical) for a site-based role at North Central Qld, with travel from Brisbane. You will oversee installation, testing and pre-commissioning of electrical systems across Thermal, Solar and BESS assets, ensuring safety and compliance on a landmark power project.

We expect 10–15 years in industrial installations, 5+ years in HV power, and a licensed electrician with leadership experience.

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of experience in Industrial Installations and supervision.
• At least 5 years in high voltage power generation projects.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings, schematics, and technical documents.
• Knowledge of testing equipment and procedures.
• Valid Electrician's License.
• Driver's license & First Aid Cert.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the installation, testing, and pre-commissioning of electrical systems for Thermal, Solar and BESS projects.
• Ensure proper integration of Solar and BESS with thermal off-grid connection.
• Interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and technical specs.
• Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards and implement controls.
• Coordinate tasks, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to project schedules.
• Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Collaborate with project and engineering teams for seamless execution.
• Monitor installation quality to meet standards.
• Oversee pre-commissioning checks, functional testing and commissioning support.
• Manage subcontractors across multidisciplinary teams.
• Provide daily progress reports to Construction Manager.

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Construction Lead (Electrical) to oversee all the installation, testing, and pre-commissioning activities for a combined Thermal, Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) and Solar, Power Plant Project at the Eva Copper Mine located near Cloncurry. This position will be responsible for ensuring that all construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in strict compliance with project specifications, electrical codes, and quality standards. This role is a multi-disciplinary role and requires strong leadership, technical expertise in both Thermal Generation, Solar and BESS technologies, and a commitment to project success.

What you’ll do as Construction Lead (Electrical) :

• Oversee the installation, testing, and pre-commissioning of all the construction activities, including, but not limited to, the electrical systems, including MV/HV switchgear, transformers, generators, control panels, cabling, grounding, and lighting systems for Thermal , Solar and BESS systems.
• Ensure proper integration of the Solar and BESS electrical systems with the thermal plant off grid connection.
• Interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
• Conduct regular site inspections to identify, mitigate, and control hazards.
• Co-ordinate tasks, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to project schedules and milestones.
• Conduct regular toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Collaborate with the Project and engineering teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Monitor the quality of the installation, ensuring workmanship meets project standards and specifications.
• Oversee pre-commissioning checks, functional testing, and support commissioning activities.
• Subcontractor Management across Multi-Disciplinary Teams
• Provide daily progress reports to the Construction Manager, highlighting achievements, challenges, and resource needs.

You are:

• Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in Industrial Installations and supervision, with at least 5 years in high voltage power generation projects.
• Proven experience with both thermal power plant electrical systems, Solar and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting drawings, schematics, and technical documents.
• Strong understanding of testing equipment and procedures
• Valid Electrician's License
• Vocational training, Supervisor training or similar (S1,2,3)
• Valid driver's license & First Aid Cert
