Job summary

Gecko Environment Management seeks casual conservation field officers to support ecological restoration projects across the NSW Central Coast and Hornsby. The role focuses on developing knowledge of local flora, fauna and ecology, and gaining essential restoration ecology skills such as bushland navigation, mapping software, GPS use, and threatened species management.

We offer an inclusive learning environment with above‑award remuneration under the Gardening and Landscape Services Award 2010.

Qualifications

• Completed or completing TAFE Cert III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management or higher.
• Current AQF III Chemical use certification.
• WHS Construction Industry Whitecard.
• Minimum two-day availability; preferably 3–5 days.
• Must have own transport and be punctual and reliable.
• 3 to 6 months experience in the bush regeneration industry.
• Excellent Flora ID skills or a desire to gain Flora ID skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist ecological restoration projects across the NSW Central Coast and Hornsby regions.
• Develop knowledge of local flora, fauna and ecology.
• Utilise field mapping software and GPS in daily work.
• Identify and manage threatened species as required.
• Contribute to site management and restoration activities.

Gecko Environment Management is an ecological restoration and consulting company based on the Central Coast NSW for over 20 years. Our work is primarily throughout the NSW Central Coast and Hornsby regions within our beautiful local National Parks and Council reserves.

We are seeking to employ casual conservation field officers.

At the core of this role is the opportunity to develop knowledge of local flora, fauna and ecology, site management, as well as essential restoration ecology skills including bushland navigation, field use of mapping software, GPS use, threatened species identification and management.
