Job summary

Accor's Chadstone Melbourne MGallery invites an experienced Conference & Events Assistant Manager to lead daily operations, coordinating conference, banquet and event services with the wider Food & Beverage team. You will drive service standards, supervise event teams and ensure flawless execution across meetings, weddings and galas.

You will mentor staff, manage rosters, and build client relationships while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Leadership experience in Conference & Events, Banquets, F&B or hotel operations.
  • Strong knowledge of conference, events and F&B environments.
  • RSA certificate holder.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams in a fast-paced hospitality setting.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to adapt to a rotating roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Conference & Events Operations Manager in daily leadership and coordination of conference, banquet and event operations.
  • Supervise event service teams to deliver exceptional experiences across meetings, conferences, weddings, social events and gala functions.
  • Ensure events are executed with high service standards, timing, and attention to detail.
  • Provide hands-on guidance, support and coaching to team members during service.
  • Assist with rostering, training, performance management and development of staff.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, guests and internal stakeholders for successful event delivery.
  • Conduct event briefings and clearly communicate operational details to the team.
  • Monitor service delivery and proactively resolve issues to maintain guest satisfaction.
  • Support food & beverage operations across the hotel, including outlets and in-room dining as required.
  • Assist in maintaining labour productivity and achieving targets.
  • Uphold food safety, WHS and responsible service requirements.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Conference & Events Assistant Manager to support our Conference & Events Operations Manager and help lead the delivery of outstanding events and food & beverage experiences throughout the hotel.

Job Description

As Conference & Events Assistant Manager, you will play a key leadership role in the day-to-day operation of our Conference & Events department while supporting the wider Food & Beverage team as required.

  • Support the Conference & Events Operations Manager in the daily leadership and coordination of conference, banquet and event operations
  • Lead event service teams to deliver exceptional experiences across meetings, conferences, weddings, social events and gala functions
  • Ensure events are executed seamlessly, with a strong focus on service standards, timing and attention to detail
  • Act as a hands‑on leader, providing guidance, support and coaching to team members throughout service
  • Assist with team rostering, training, performance management and development
  • Build strong relationships with clients, guests and internal stakeholders to ensure successful event delivery
  • Conduct event briefings and ensure all operational details are communicated clearly to the team
  • Monitor service delivery and proactively resolve issues to ensure an exceptional guest experience
  • Support food and beverage operations across the hotel, including restaurant, bar and in‑room dining outlets as required
  • Assist in maintaining labour, productivity and operational targets
  • Uphold all food safety, workplace health and safety, and responsible service requirements
  • Foster a positive, collaborative and high‑performing team culture
Qualifications
  • Previous leadership experience within Conference & Events, Banquets, Food & Beverage or hotel operations
  • Strong operational knowledge across conference, events and food & beverage environments
  • A passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate and develop teams in a fast‑paced environment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • A hands‑on leadership style and willingness to support operationally wherever required
  • Sound understanding of food and beverage service standards and event execution
  • A proactive, solutions‑focused mindset with exceptional attention to detail
  • A current RSA Certificate
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays
